Artistic Director for Concert Band
We are currently seeking applicants to apply for our Artistic Director for Concert Band position on a volunteer basis. The Director’s main responsibility is to ensure the ensemble is fulfilling its artistic potential in an engaging way. In support of this fulfillment, the Director is responsible for the following:
- Conduct rehearsals and performances in a positive, welcoming environment
- Work with the artistic team to plan and implement our performance calendar to ensure no overlap in performances
- Seek input from membership, board and artistic team to choose themes and select music appropriate to each event
- Support our community image by attending events relevant to overall band public relations as necessary
- Ensure musicians talents are being developed through instruction and small ensemble work
- Select guest conductors and soloists
- Keep abreast of current trends in group music performance
- Assist in part assignments to ensure they are being given to support the sound of the ensemble

The Director’s main responsibility is to ensure the ensemble is fulfilling its artistic potential in an engaging way. In support of this fulfillment, the Director is responsible for the following:- Foster an atmosphere of fun as part of the secret to excellence at all rehearsals and performances
- Conduct rehearsals and performances in a positive, welcoming environment
- Create the rehearsal schedules (indoor sectionals and full-band music rehearsals and outdoor marching rehearsals)
- Work with board members to plan and implement our performance calendar, helping to lead music and performance selections
- Support our community image by attending events relevant to overall band public relations as necessary
- Work with musicians to ensure their musical talents, but also marching techniques, are being developed one on one
- Keep abreast of current trends in the marching arts
- Assist in part assignments to ensure they are being given to support the sound of the ensemble
- Responsible for choosing all music for marching and pep season
Finishing out our sixth year, we are preparing for growth on multiple levels including our artistic accomplishments. Our new Music Director will have the opportunity to help lead this initiative and help us achieve the full artistic potential of this very dedicated group of musicians and pageantry artists.
