As part of the Broadway Presents series, the Pride of Indy Band performed its Holiday Concert in the sanctuary on Sunday, December 6. ![]() Time Warp Fundraiser a HUGE success!Thanks for joining us at the annual Time Warp Fundraiser to support Pride of Indy Bands! Time Warp was held on the evening of Thursday, November 19, at Talbott Street Nightclub. The Pride of Indy Jazz Band played popular hits from the 1940s while patrons enjoyed complimentary hors d'oeuvres and perused the silent auction. Indianapolis singing sentation Brenda Williams & Pride of Indy's own Aaron Rambo got toes tapping & the crowd singing along with their vocals. We appreciate your support at this yearly event! Another great Beer Bar Bash Fundraiser at Gregs![]() We appreciate you joining us and send a special thanks to Gregs for their continued support! SPOOKTACULAR Halloween Concert! The Pride of Indy Concert Band gave audiences a frighteningly fun Spooktacular Halloween concert on Sunday, October 18th at Garfield Park! Included in the program for the concert were scary tunes from John Williams and Danny Elfman, music from Psycho, Verdi's Dies Irae, and a 3 movement suite based on the story of Beowulf with a reading in Old English by Ann Rambo. Soloists Mike Morgan, Duane Jarvis, and Tom Nichols also wowed the audience with their musical skills. A BIG thanks to all who came out for the concert and an even bigger thanks to Indy Parks and Recreation for all of their hard work and support. Thank you for helping POI support those with HIV/AIDS! The Pride of Indy Bands performed several numbers at the 2009 Indiana AIDS Walk on Saturday, October 10th, and had the crowd singing and dancing! Also on hand was Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard as the band performed a beautiful rendition of "The Star Spangled Banner" to kick off the 19th annual charity walk. A BIG thank you to all of the band members, friends, and family who donated and helped us to raise a total of $681 to help the Indiana AIDS Fund! POI members rocked New Orleans!Members of the Pride of Indy Band had an amazing time at the 2009 LGBA Conference in New Orleans over Labor Day weekend. Over 170 musicians attended from all over the country and performed a concert and marched in the Southern Decadence parade! On to next year where the 2010 LGBA conference will be held in Indianapolis! Indy Parks Concert SeriesFor the 3rd year in a row, Pride of Indy Bands performed again with the Indy Parks Concert Series in 2009. Thursday, August 13, at 7pm, the Pride of Indy Concert Band put on a performance at the MacAllister Center for the Performing Arts as part of the Thursday Night Pops Series at Garfield Park. Favorites like "Themes from the 'Wizard of Oz'", "John Williams in Concert" ("Jaws", "E. T.", "Imperial March" from "Star Wars"), "Instant Concert", and a medley from "West Side Story" were enjoyed by all. The concert concluded with a salute to the Armed Forces ("Armed Forces- The Pride of America!"), honoring those who serve our country; veterans were invited to stand and be recognized as the service song for each of the 5 military branches was played. ![]() The free concert was sponsored by Indy Parks. Pride of Indy "jazzed it up" at Garfield Park!![]() Thanks to everyone that attended and look for the Pride of Indy Concert Band at Garfield Park on August 13! Columbus Pride! The Pride of Indy Marching Band & Color Guard headed to Columbus, Ohio, on June 20 to join in their Pride Parade.After the parade, we joined Columbus's own Capital Pride Band, our sister band, at the Columbus Pride Festival in Goodale Park for some popular pep tunes enjoyed by all! Circle City IN Pride Parade & Festival![]() ![]() After the parade, the Pride of Indy Pep Band performed some toe-tapping hit favorites that afternoon on-stage at the Circle City IN Pride Festival in University Park. Thanks to all the visitors who come to our booth at Pride and supported or learned about Pride of Indy Bands! We look forward to seeing some new faces join us, and we appreciate your enthusiasm as fans! Indianapolis Men's Chorus partners with Pride of Indy Jazz Band for June 13 performanceThe Indianapolis Men's Chorus, special guests Sapphonia (Indianapolis Women's Chorus's small ensemble), and the Pride of Indy Jazz Ensemble celebrated Pride on June 13 with a look back at the radio days of the 1940s. Our "live studio audience" for imaginary radio station WIMC enjoyed favorite oldies from a time when radio was a lifeline of news and entertainment for all of America and the world. 4th Anniversary Pride ConcertOn Tuesday, June 9th at 7 PM, the Pride of Indy Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble presented its 4th Anniversary Pride Concert at the Old Firehouse ground. Brooks Frederickson, in his review for Nuvo Newsweekly, said that this concert was "some of the most energetic, heart-felt live music the city has heard recently."
